Wishon Golf believes the normal industry fairway and hybrid lengths are too long for the vast majority of golfers to use to achieve a proper level of shot consistency and control.

The 370CLA (CLA = Custom Length Assembly) Fairways & Hybrids feature two weight bores on the sole combined with the hosel weight bore to allow as much as a 27 gram increase to the headweight, allowing clubmakers to build to a wide variety of shorter custom lengths at normal swingweights to achieve much better control and consistency with little to no loss of distance. Designed with a classic, traditional shape, semi-shallow face height and ultra-low profile back, when set behind the ball the 370CLA Fairways and Hybrids look incredibly easy to hit consistently high to achieve maximum carry distance.

  • The twin sole weight bores on the 370CLA combine with the hosel weight bore to enable clubmakers to add as much as 27g to the headweight to allow assembly to shorter lengths for more control, consistency and proper distance to ensure proper distance gaps, down to the irons. Wishon Golf has proven that both fairway wood lengths 1″ to 2″ shorter than industry standards, and hybrid length at or even shorter than an iron of the same loft, deliver more consistency and control with no distance loss.
  • 370CLA hybrids also allow clubmakers to build the hybrids to lengths shorter than an iron of the same loft for even more control and consistency.
  • 28mm face height on the 370CLA Hybrids offers super low CG to ensure a high launch for maximum carry with enough spin to stop the ball quickly on the green
  • 31mm face height on the 370CLA Fairways offers “in between” face height –slightly taller than a shallow face to prevent sweeping under the ball from rough, while short enough to keep the CG low for ease in hitting the ball high to fly and carry.
  • Investment cast from 431 stainless with heat treatment to allow bending the hosel 2-3° for custom lie and face angle fitting needs
  • Special heat treatment also allows Wishon Golf to thin the face to offer a higher COR for a higher ball speed than is typical for normal cast 431 stainless heads
  • Greater Bottom of Bore to Ground dimension than other Wishon Golf models to offer average to less skilled players a softer shaft feel. To make shaft installation the same as all other Wishon Golf hybrids, add 0.75” to the tip trim for each head for all S2S Shaft Models.

Hi Tom. I love the old one length sterling irons! I am trying to build a hybrid that is one inch longer than the 8 iron length and about the same total weight of my irons which are 462 grams. My one length cobra hybrid head weighs 262 grams. My plan is to get the weight very close to what my irons are with the same swing weight by using tip weights and counterbalance weights, lead tape and tungsten powder if required. Does my plan sound like I am on the right track? I have also ordered the new wishon… Read more »

Dean Thanks very much for your interest and your support of what we have been doing in our work! You did not tell me anything about the weight of the shaft or the weight of the grip you propose to use to make the 37.5″ hybrid so I can’t really calculate what you might face in trying to do this to make the club match the irons. Also, if you plan to do this with a Cobra hybrid head, I doubt seriously that it has any ability to add or remove weight so your options there will be limited. At… Read more »

Hi Tom,
as you’ve already explained to me in the comment section of your newest Driver design, LH players are rather rare (at least outside of Canada) and costs for additonal LH moulds in the foundry are quite high in relation to expected revenues. However, so far I’ve found only a LH version in the 319 series with 22° loft in your Hybrid program. Are there no further loft options for us Lefties planned in your Hybrid range?
Really appreciate your feedback,
Michael

Michael,
In addition to the 319RS #4-Hybrid in 25° for L/H, there are also the options of the EQ1-NX #4-Hybrid and #5-Hybrid in 20° and 24° respectively available in L/H, which can be built to a range of lengths due to the starting head weights.
Whilst there are no imminent plans to release a model of the 797HS or 370CLA-HY in L/H, this is something that will be under a scheduled review process.

Can I have this at 60 lie and 13 loft? I am looking for a .75 inch increment from my driving iron to play at 40.5” and a d4 sw. driver clubhead swing is 112-114 and length is 43”

Colton If you are talking about the 370CLA #3 wood, you can have it bent to a 60* lie but getting the 13* loft would not be possible. Spec loft is 15* and in our Hand Select program, the minimum the loft could be found on a 3w would be 14*. And even that would be tough to find because the foundry doing the production is extremely good with very, very low +/- tolerances from the specs. But with all the additional weight bores you could play it at 41.25″ and get pretty close to a D4 swingweight, as long… Read more »

looking for the best hybrid for a 140 – 150 yards. Shot in the 90s but if I can hit the green more consistently from this distance I will consistently score in the 80s. Thanks Tom

TOM I am sorry but I cannot make a viable recommendation for a hybrid that can allow YOU to hit the ball 140-150 unless I either know your clubhead speed with the irons, or, unless you can tell me how far you carry the ball with your current 7 iron for example – and if you know the loft of your current 7 iron, that would help a lot too. A player with a 7 iron clubhead speed of 80mph might need an 8 hybrid to hit the ball 140-150 while a player with a 65mph 7 iron speed would… Read more »

I love the idea of having shorter-length shafts on the hybrids. The problem with most hybrids is that the shaft length is too long, and control becomes problematic. I tried a 7-iron hybrid once with a shaft as long as a standard 2-iron, which made no sense. The ball flight was far and high, but I sprayed the shots all over, and the dispersion was unfavorable. I had a Wishon 6 iron hybrid and hit my first hole-in-one off a 158-yard par three in 2014. The length of the shaft was 37.5″. I’m meeting with my clubmaker in a few… Read more »

MIKE First things first – CONGRATULATIONS on the ACE with the 6 hybrid!! Well done for sure! I can still remember back in the late 90s when I encountered my first hybrid club that was almost as long as a fwy wood. That prompted my thought that the whole reason for hybrids in the first place was to be an easier to hit alternative to low loft irons. As such, I always felt that the hybrids should never be longer than an iron of the same loft. Otherwise you get what you said in your comment – too much distance… Read more »

Tom I think your clubs are best for my fitting needs I play all clubs 2″ short of standard so my question is between the 370 CLA’s which would be best set up if I would like a 4 iron replacement and woods to play like strong 5 – 7- and 9 woods

Scott Both the 370CLA woods/hybrids and the 927 woods/797 hybrids have multiple weight bores on the heads to allow a lot more weight addition capability to get to a normal swingweight for your 2″ underlength needs. So either model can work for what you want in the length. As to the strong loft aspect, industry normal loft stds for woods are 3w = 15, 4w = 16.5, 5w = 18, 7w = 21, 9w = 24. So if you want a strong #5, you might think of the 927 #5w at 17*. For a strong 7w, the 797 hybrid #3… Read more »

Tom can the 370 4 hybrid be bent by you to 18*loft, square face and 56* lie angle looking to build with KBS Max 80 shaft to get it in the air and build to 39″ ish range with Winn dri tac or dri tac lite oversize grip

Scott Please bear with me as I explain this matter of bending hybrids (and woods, since it is the same thing) because it can get a little confusing. First of all when you bend a head for loft, after the bend the only way you get that loft change is to grip the club so you can address the ball with the face HELD SQUARE. If you sole the head on the ground, that bend turns into a face angle change, not a loft change. Think of an iron by contrast. WHen you bend loft on an iron, you always… Read more »
